About Wood & Luxury

Wood & Luxury has designed and manufactured upscale furniture and accessories since 1992. Swiss solid wood, natural surface treatments, and designs on a human scale are the core values of Wood & Luxury. All products are manufactured by experienced woodworkers and wood craftsmen in Basel, Switzerland and sold to an international clientele.

Our creations evoke a feeling of lightness - a consequence of clean design and expert execution. A clean, light design draws on the power of intergenerational traditions expressed in today’s timeless, harmonious shapes. Our designs are forward-looking pieces that will outlast the moment and will still be a stylish legacy for future generations. Just as a painter makes use of his or her medium to express an idea, we at Wood & Luxury realize our dreams through the medium of wood. Furthermore, we are fortunate to be able to create with these precious woods that have grown up over generations – which we have fashioned into objects of beauty today.

Centuries-old wood is a demanding material, and the most demanding woods are fine fruit woods. If they are harvested too early, you lose a part of the fruit yields; yet if they are chopped too late, the core can be rotten. For our designs we use mainly handpicked Swiss hardwood - apple, pear, walnut, and plum. Due to their fine characteristics they are among the rarest furniture woods in Europe and are available only in small quantities and dimensions - if at all. Our ambition and our expertise is to make these rare pieces available to our customers. 

Another special feature of our designs is the use of fine flamed maple for coverings like drawer and cabinet fronts. Wood stained in neutral – or stronger – tones brings out the extraordinary structure of the material.
